Mild Food in the Cafeteria of Kärla

On 15 December our local cafeteria organized the cooking day called „Self-made Christmas food“.

The aim of this day was to raise the standard of awareness of advantages and usefulness of mild food.  The day was carried out by great authorities in this field – by farmers and cooks working for different farms.

The day started with a lecture on the wholesome food for grown-ups, meanwhile children made gingerbreads and later iced them all. It is worth to mention that even the batter of the cookies was made on spot by children. All the cookies were very beautifully decorated and tasted heavenly.

Together with the parents, children and teachers prepared sausages made from pearl barley and pork, called also white pudding, sauerkraut pie, sweet buckwheat porridge, roast beef stew, oven-baked beets with goat cheese, and oven-baked vegetables. Every tiny piece of food was cooked by using eco-raw materials.

After all these preparations once the table was laid, all the participants were begged to sit down and eat the supper. We had opportunity to taste various dishes of which some were rather strange, but after all everything was similar to our national food.

It can be truly say that it was an interesting and cheerful Sunday. We had a chance to experience cooking the mild food which was something new to lots of participants of the day.
